1. Agreement to Terms
By registering for or using Saintara ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you ("Client") and Saintara ("we", "us", "our").
2. Description of Service
Saintara is a website translation service. Clients embed a JavaScript snippet on their website. When a visitor selects a language, the snippet sends page content to the Saintara API, which translates it using a third-party translation provider and returns the result. Translations are cached to minimise repeat calls.
Saintara is offered under two models, which you select when you choose a plan:
- Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) — you supply your own API key from a supported provider (DeepL, OpenAI, or Amazon Translate). You are billed by Saintara for the service and separately by your provider for translation usage.
- Managed — Saintara supplies the translation capacity. You do not provide a provider key; translation usage is included within your plan's monthly allowance.
Each plan includes a monthly usage allowance measured in words/characters. Usage above your allowance may be rate-limited or blocked until the next billing period, or until you upgrade.
3. Account Setup
You may register for a Saintara account directly through our website. You must provide a valid email address and verify it before your account is activated. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
You are responsible for keeping your account password and snippet credentials secure. You must notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised use of your account or credentials.
You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal authority to enter into these Terms on behalf of yourself or your organisation.
4. API Keys and Provider Accounts (BYOK)
If you use the BYOK model, you are solely responsible for your third-party translation provider API key ("Provider Key"), including its security, usage, and any costs incurred with the provider. We store your Provider Key in encrypted form and only use it to communicate with your designated translation provider on your behalf.
We are not liable for any charges, overages, or service disruptions arising from your provider account. Managed clients do not supply a Provider Key; translation capacity is provided by us as part of the plan.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Translate content that is unlawful, harmful, abusive, hateful, or violates any applicable law
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the Saintara API
- Share your Saintara credentials with third parties not authorised by you
- Circumvent rate limits or access controls
- Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our infrastructure
6. Trial, Subscriptions and Payment
New clients receive a 7-day free trial. During the trial the service is active at no charge and no payment is taken up front. The trial ends automatically after 7 days; to continue, you must subscribe to a paid plan.
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly, as selected) through our payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing you authorise us, via Stripe, to charge your payment method the applicable fee on each renewal date until you cancel. We do not store your full card details; these are handled by Stripe.
Upgrades take effect immediately and are charged on a prorated basis. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. Cancellations stop future renewals; your access continues until the end of the period already paid for.
Refunds. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law. Cancelling does not entitle you to a refund of the current period.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we (via Stripe) may retry it. If payment cannot be collected, your subscription may be cancelled and your account suspended until payment is resolved.
We reserve the right to update pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Price changes do not affect the period you have already paid for.
7. Data and Privacy
We cache translated text strings (not personal data) to reduce repeat translation calls. We store your email, company name, billing/subscription details (via Stripe), and, for BYOK clients, your encrypted Provider Key. We do not sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
8. Domain and Site Eligibility
The translation service operates only on domains you have registered and which we have approved on your account. We reserve the right to review, decline, or revoke approval for any domain or site that violates these Terms or poses a security or legal risk.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these Terms, engage in abusive behaviour, or your account poses a security or legal risk to the Service.
Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. Translation quality depends on the third-party provider you have chosen.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Saintara shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the total fees paid by you to Saintara in the three months preceding the claim.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
